Favorite Songs - JFK Jams

Music has always been a big part of my life, either performing or listening to it. Our tastes were different - from New Wave to Metal Bands - it was all good. Over the past couple of years I've seen my favorites in concert again: Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, Journey & Def Leppard - and I just picked up my tix for The Police.

KYYX -"The Wave" & KNHC were the stations to listen to - I was so sad when they changed KYYX's format - How many of you sat there listening to static in disbelief when it went off the air?

What is your favorite or most memorable song from highschool?

All I remember is Beethoven etc. I was such a classical music dork that I missed the 80s entirely! Why didn't you people help me? An intervention; anything. Now I'm going to suck at 80s trivia for the rest of my life.

Too many great songs to choose just one! Some favorite bands were Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, INXS-and I also remember the talent show-fun times!

I vote for an INXS talent show reunion at the reunion! What do you say guys? Does Brian "Scootchies" Mahn still have the moves? Can Ladum dust off the glasses and the Sax?

DOA - Brand New Lover!

Jason, I think you misread the post. It's about the 1980's, not 1780's. Maybe you can just say 'Rock Me Amadeus' was your favorite and we can call it close enough?

As much as I am not into Rap, I still like to hear some old RUN DMC (King of Rock album) and Beastie Boys (License to ill). Peace out!

Mike,
That surprises me I expected you to say a song from "The Boss" himself. I still remember racing our cars along the Burien Speedway with Springsteen blasting in the background.....boy do I miss my Mustang...

Oh L'Amour by Erasure. Traci had the best dance mix version. I can't find it on iTunes :(

Any song from Boston's Third Stage album brings back lots of memories

Jeff! I forgot about Springsteen! Of course Traci will never forgive you for reminding me since I'll have to break out all the old CDs.

Nothing like racing cars down Burien Freeway in a major windstorm. :)

Mike! I few years back I bought Bruce Springsteen's Greatest Hits and everytime I listen to that I think of all the good times we had.....only difference now is that I'm cruzing down the freeway in a SUV traveling at the speedlimit....:) with the kids in the their car seats and the volume not as high as we used to listen to it......Ever hear from Ted Naff?

Well, lets see. My ipod has all my 80's music on it and I listen to all of it still. Though I just checked my 100 most played list in iTunes and most of the songs are 70's funk and disco with some Prince, Madonna, George Michael, new artists like Scissor Sisters and Jamiroquai in the mix. This is a hard one... here are three picks

Gotta dance! Saw Madonna last summer. She still rocks.
'Into The Groove'

'Everybody Wants to Rule the World' Tears for Fears

'Close To Me' The Cure

Institutionalized by Suicidal Tendencies. I wonder what our generations kid's think of that music? I can just imagine kid's in the back of soccermom's mini van asking for more Dead or Alive..or Whitesnake..."hey Mom! can ya crank up the Ratt!???!?

INXS free for over 18 years.

In response to my kids musical tastes, Rachael is 11 years old and likes the Cure, The B52s, and hates Queen, "Bohemian Rhapsody, that song doesn't even make any sense!"
Rebecca is 9 years old and likes the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Green Day. Hates the Eagles."Hotel California is stupid."

Kerry and Steph

Jennifer (my 15 yo) downloaded Beastie Boys "Girls" to her mp3 player along with stuff from Poison and Motley Crue. When she was a baby "Home Sweet Home" would put her to sleep. I just shook my head at her and asked "Where's the A-Ha and WHAM! and Stray Cats." She looked at me like I was nuts!! I blame her father.

Got to agree with the Beastie Boys and of course Bon Jovi (JBJ was hot then and he's aged VERY well).

But then, Cheryl O'Brien and Duran Duran was quite memorable.

Oh Chriset where do I begin?

"How Soon Is Now" - The Smiths - I actually hated them until I heard that song on a San Diego road trip with Nick Jenkins and Gary Smith 1989 - but now I am obsessed. It's a problem. Damn you, Nick!)

"The Reflex" - Duran Duran- yes I am confident enough in my masculenity to admit I bought "Seven and the Ragged Tiger"

"Don'T Stand So Close To Me" -The Police- well that band got me through a lot. How cool is it that they are doing a reunion tour? Well the $280 ticket for Staples Center isn't cool...

"The New Song" - Howard Jones - ahhh MTV

Okay I could be up all night doing this list so I wil just stop right here ;^)

Cheers,

Jay Tando
